Summer Palace, Beijing, China. This is the summer retreat of the emperor.
The sheer size of the area is amazing. Here you find a lake, pagodas, temples, many bridges, traditional Chinese garde architecture, and even an old wooden market street.
The summer palace was initially called “garden of clear ripples”, but renamed after the Chinese revolution.
This is one of the main tourist attractions of Beijing. Fortunately, the buses usually stop here for little more than an hour - so there are still many quiet spots.
