The unofficial name of this bridge derives from a bridge toll that used to be levied for crossing the Liffey river at this point.
Nowadays, it’s free of charge - one of the few things that actually have not become more expensive over time!
While the monastery is no longer active, the cemetary of Clonmacnoise is still in use nowadays and very well worth a visit.
