It is no coincidence that on just about every shot of this building you will see a crane (well, some may have been retouched…): the project was started in 1882 and although its creator, the world-famous artist-architect Antoni Gaudà had envisioned it as a “20th century cathedral”, the building is far from finished.
Even so, the original mixture of modern and Gothic elements attracts millions of visitors each year, making it easily Barcelona’s most famous tourist attraction.
